42% of Black Women are Unmarried

Many black women unmarried
Some locals advise unmarried black women not to focus on the statistics.

Marriage was always a part of Camille Bridges’ life plan, and at 24 years old that plan became a reality.
But for many black women locally and nationally, the dream of marriage remains only that.
Forty-two percent of black women have never been married, compared to 21 percent of white women, according to national statistics.
But Bridges believes the data don’t have to be an indicator of the outcome of black relationships.
“I believe that if you have a desire to be married, it’s about timing and knowing who you are first,” she said. “Don’t worry about what you don’t have. Worry about what you do have and before you know it, your mate will come.”
Convicted killer boasts on Facebook

This young gentleman could be adding you as a friend on facebook as he changes his status update from his prison cell.
A convicted killer has boasted on Facebook that being in jail is like being on holiday.
Ashley Graham, 27, even put up a picture of himself on the social networking website ‘relaxing’ in his cell.
Graham is serving life at HMP Lindholme in South Yorkshire for stabbing a man through the heart.
But he manages to access Facebook every day by using a mobile phone that was smuggled in to the jail.
In one update he wrote: ‘HMP Holiday’s a place where men can come for a nice relaxin break from their moanin women and crying kids. No stress just rest.’

No More Blocked Calls

New service unmasks blocked telephone calls
TelTech Systems is offering mobile telephone users the power to unmask callers who block their numbers or names from being displayed.
The US-based firm launched a TrapCall service this month with an online posting thanking its development team and declaring “Get ready for the site to go ballistic.”
To use the service, people register mobile telephone numbers at a TrapCall.com website without having to download software to devices.
Calls from unidentified sources can then be bounced to TelTech computers, which reveal points of origin.
Mobile telephone users can then decide whether to accept the calls.
Industry Veteran Chris Hicks Takes Over At Def Jam; Speaks on Rick Ross, Rihanna and Jay Z

By Jayson Rodriguez
Def Jam Records officially announced Tuesday that Chris Hicks has been appointed the executive vice president of the label, almost a month after MTV News confirmed the move.
Hicks, a former senior executive at Atlantic Records and Warner/Chappell Music, replaced the late Shakir Stewart, who held the position following Jay-Z’s stint as president of the storied hip-hop label.
Like some other newly minted presidents, Hicks has inherited a number of difficult situations.
There’s one of his flagship artists, Rick Ross, who’s embroiled in an ongoing feud with 50 Cent. There’s the uncertain status of Jay-Z as a recording artist with the label. And, of course, there’s Def Jam artist Rihanna, who is reportedly the victim in an alleged physical altercation with Chris Brown.
With regard to Rihanna, Hicks said he echoes Jay-Z’s recent statement on the matter.
Rihanna’s Father Speaks On Photo Leak
Rihanna’s father is upset with the Los Angeles Police Department after a photo of his battered and bruised daughter leaked on Thursday.
“Sloppy work on their part,” Ronald Fenty told PEOPLE after the photo emerged on the internet.
The LAPD is looking into the leak. “The Los Angeles Police Department takes seriously its duty to maintain the confidentiality of victims of domestic violence,” said the police in a statement.
“The Department launched an immediate internal investigation and subsequently filed a personnel complaint,” the statement continued. “A violation of this type is considered serious misconduct, with penalties up to and including termination.”
Today is Rihanna’s 21st birthday. She was supposed to celebrate with a lavish party in New York City, but it was canceled in the aftermath of the events.
New York Post Issues Statement On Monkey Cartoon

The post released the following statement (which some are calling an apology) in response to protests over this controversial cartoon. In my opinion the statement may as well had been sorry for making fun of black people…here’s some banannas to make up for it.
“Wednesday’s Page Six cartoon – caricaturing Monday’s police shooting of a chimpanzee in Connecticut – has created considerable controversy. It shows two police officers standing over the chimp’s body: “They’ll have to find someone else to write the next stimulus bill,” one officer says. (more…)
