Cablevision Systems Corp plans to roll out super-fast Internet access connections that can allow a customer to download a full-length high-definition movie in less 10 minutes. The New York-based cable operator said on Tuesday it is also doubling the speed of its Wi-Fi wireless Internet service — free for subscribers — as it steps up its offerings to counter the competitive threat of Verizon Communications’ FiOS service. Cablevision customers will pay nearly $100 a month to use the new high-speed Internet service, which will deliver download speeds of up to 101 megabits per second and upload speeds of up to 15 megabits per second. She made history as the fattest ever mother of triplets, weighing in at 40 stone.

But far from ensuring her babies don’t go the same way she did, Leanne Salt is happy to admit feeding them junk food, including fish and chips and McDonald’s meals.

Yesterday the 24-year-old – still dangerously overweight at 30 stone – told of her approach to motherhood which doctors say is certain to leave them facing health problems.

They were six months old when they had their first McDonald’s,’ she said. ‘They had chicken nuggets and chips and loved it.

‘They like fish and chips too, but I take the batter off the fish, so I guess that’s healthy.’ (more…)

LAKELAND | A woman who went on a Sunday morning car ride with two others cost her husband his job. Police say the trio cruised Lakeland in Deputy Charles ‘Chip’ Buckner’s squad car.

Buckner, 44, a 21-year veteran of the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, resigned Monday following the arrest of his wife, Gail, his wife’s mother and a young man. Officials said the three took Buckner’s marked patrol car while he was asleep.

Sheriff Grady Judd said it’s unclear whether Buckner did anything wrong.

‘You shouldn’t have to hide your keys from your wife,’ he said.

Judd said Buckner was not being blamed for his wife’s transgressions. (more…)

What is this world coming to? A priest at Holy Cross Catholic Church is stabbed during confession. He is a man of the cloth just doing God’s work at church this weekend. Then, he was stabbed twice in a confessional.

Thankfully, Father Michael Massaro will be fine now after surgery. The suspect, 57-year-old Josephine Gatchell, was arrested Sunday at a friend’s house.

Deputies say Saturday afternoon she stormed into the confessional room after the last person had left. Gatchell then stabbed Father Massaro once in the thigh, then in his ribs, and took off.

Officers searched for more than a day until they found her at a friend’s house. (more…)

Do Not Lock Your Joints When Lifting Weights When strength training with weights, it’s important not to lock your joints (knees, elbows, etc.) during the exercises.

Locking the joints when you’re lifting weight can put enormous strain on them and lead to injury. Another safety tip: Whenever you’re lifting weights in a standing position, always keep your knees slightly bent. This can help reduce stress on the lower back.

Bringing new meaning to full contact, the 10-team Lingerie Football League will kick off this fall with two games at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise.

Seven-woman teams will play each other clad in bikini tops, short shorts and helmets, starting with the Miami Caliente and Chicago Bliss on Sept. 4 in Chicago.

Each team will play two games at home and two on the road — all on Friday nights — during the 20-week season. Games at the BankAtlantic Center are set for Nov. 13 and Jan. 22, 2010. Tickets range from $12 to $85 and are available through Ticketmaster. Merchandise is already for sale at LFLUS.com.
