Via Us News – Looks like Mariah Carey has gotten her revenge against Eminem.
Carey dressed up in drag as the rapper while filming her new music video “Obsessed” in New York City Monday.
The tune’s lyrics include: “You’re so lame….Ooh boy, why you so obsessed with me? Ohh finally found a girl that you couldn’t impress/Last man on the earth/still couldn’t get this.”

Eminem rapped about Carey — who he has said he briefly dated in 2001 — in his song “Bagpipes From Baghdad.”
“I want another crack at ya,” Eminem’s lyrics go. “Nick Cannon better back…up. I’m not playing, I want her back, you punk.’”

Slammed Carey’s husband Nick Cannon then: “What type of grown…man lies about getting with a chick? Only Slim Lamey! LOL!”

Eminem later admitted to BBC Radio he “kind of spazzed out on that record.
“There’s a line on there that was a little harsh. It’s a harsh line… But it’s like this, the way I look at it. I had no idea he was going to take it like he took it. I had no idea Nick Cannon was going to start wildin’ out on me,” he said.

Is Twitter Helping The Music Business?

Twitter

TWITTER users are more likely to buy music online than non-users, reports BEATCRAVE.COM. “An NPD report says that 33% of TWITTER users bought a CD in the last three months, compared to 23% of all Internet users, and 34% of TWITTERERS purchased a digital download, which is considerably more than the 16% of overall Web users who bought music online.

“Can TWITTER change the downward spiral of music sales? The four major labels, EMI MUSIC, WARNER MUSIC, SONY BMG and UNIVERSAL MUSIC, all have TWITTER accounts, no doubt to take advantage of easy distribution on the platform. However, bands and artists have also been able to keep their trusting followers more up-to-date on their latest releases through TWITTER, and spread new music more efficiently.

“RUSS CRUPNICK, entertainment industry analyst for NPD said that ‘based on their music-purchasing history, active TWITTER users are simply worth more to record labels and music retailers than those who are not using TWITTER.’

“The instantaneous nature of TWITTER also encourages musicians to release music more quickly; singles, music videos and remixes have been distributed immediately, rather than keeping followers waiting months for new material.”

Facebook Makes Another Twitter-Like Move

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

Facebook just took another shot at Twitter.

Starting now, you can publish status updates not just to your “friends” on Facebook but to everyone. That means your status updates can be visible to not only those in your social network but those who aren’t and, maybe even more importantly, Google, Bing and every other search engine that indexes Facebook pages and profiles.

Here’s how the setting looks, courtesy of AllFacebook:

Facebook settings

This is definitely a first step toward opening up a platform that has built its success on giving its users full control of letting only certain people in. Perhaps Facebook is realizing that being ubiquitous means opening up even further than the Facebook Connect platform has allowed it to. Or maybe it’s just feeling the Twitter heat. Either way, Facebook just got a little more public.

When Facebook launched its Pages product, it made brand pages look, feel and act more like profiles. Now profiles are acting more like Pages. If this is a step toward going the “full monty,” is it something that users will embrace — or shun? Either way, this is something to pay attention to. I’m sure Facebook will be paying very close attention to it.
