Wednesday, November 30th, 2011

In the Song of the Year category, announced by actress Taraji P. Henson, Mars scored another nomination for ‘Grenade,’ but he goes head to head with animated lyricist Kanye West for ‘All of the Lights,’ his smash with Rihanna and Kid Cudi. Bon Iver, Mumford & Sons and Adele round out the category.

A hat-wearing Mars, after bringing in two acknowledgements for ‘Grenade,’ stepped out to unveil which entertainers landed the coveted Best New Artist spot. In one of the biggest surprises of the evening, two rappers landed here: J. Cole and Nicki Minaj. The former for his work on ‘Cole World: The Sideline Story,’ while the latter was recognized for her debut LP ‘Pink Friday.’ The two face off against The Band Perry, Scrillex and Bon Iver.

Woman Arrested, Accused of Giving Baby Alcohol – The Way She Looks, We Are Not Surprised

Monday, November 21st, 2011

Via firstcoastnews.com – FORT MYERS, Fla. – A 30-year-old Fort Myers woman was arrested on Saturday after admitting to Fort Myers Police officers that she gave a 1-year-old child drinks from an alcoholic beverage.

Police say they received a call from a woman requesting assistance around 10:15 p.m. The woman disconnected the phone call quickly.

When police called back, the woman stated there was “no emergency.”

Officers were dispatched to the area and found a large group of people in front of a residence. Laqweeta Neal was identified as the woman who requested police.

Neal told officers that her brother slapped her in the face and twisted her arm behind her head after she provided the child with a “sip” from wine coolers she had been consuming.

Due to Neal’s admission that she provided a child with an alcoholic beverage, she was arrested and charged with child abuse.

Neal’s brother, Rousheem Williams, was also arrested for the obvious injuries caused to Neal. He is charged with battery.

Rihanna Gets Her 11th No. 1 Record With “We Found Love”

Wednesday, November 2nd, 2011

Via Billboard – by Gary Trust – Rihanna rises to her 11th No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, as “We Found Love,” featuring Calvin Harris, ascends 2-1 with Airplay Gainer honors in its sixth week on the survey.

Rihanna is just the seventh artist in the Hot 100′s 53-year history to tally at least 11 leaders, joining the Beatles (20), Mariah Carey (18), Michael Jackson (13), Madonna (12), the Supremes (12) and Whitney Houston (11). She passes Janet Jackson and Stevie Wonder, each with 10 No. 1s.

Among women, Rihanna, thus, moves into a third-place tie with Houston for most toppers, after only Carey and Madonna.

“Found,” the lead single from “Talk That Talk,” due Nov. 21, spends a second week at No. 1 on the Digital Songs chart with 243,000 downloads sold, up 5%, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The weekly sum pushes the song past a million in release-to-date digital sales (1,057,000), marking Rihanna’s 20th download to reach the million-selling milestone, extending her record for the most such downloads among women. Eminem’s “Love the Way You Lie,” on which she guests, is her best-selling digital song (5.1 million), followed by her top-selling title as a lead act, “Disturbia” (4.3 million).
