T.i. and Tiny Busted for Drug Possession
The honeymoon is over for T.I. and his wife Tameka Cottle because TMZ has learned they were arrested tonight and booked for the alleged possession of a controlled substance.
Law enforcement sources tell us L.A. County Sheriff’s deputies pulled over the multi-platinum selling rapper and his wife in a Maybach on Sunset Boulevard around 10:30PM. Deputies say they smelled marijuana, and after searching the vehicle they arrested T.I. and Tameka.
The couple just got married on July 30 in Miami, and T.I. — real name Clifford Harris Jr. — is on probation after doing seven months in prison on federal weapons charges.
We’re told T.I. and Tameka are in custody right now. Bail amount is $10,000.
UPDATE: They were released around 4 am (PT).
UPDATED SOME MO’: Tiny tweeted this to her followers after her release (is getting arrested then tweeting the new hotness?)…
The Top Five Brands on Facebook
What are Facebook fans looking for when they “like” a brand page? According to new research from ExactTarget and CoTweet, it’s pretty simple: coupons and free stuff.
40% of those surveyed said that was a motivator for “liking” a company, 36% said they wanted to get freebies and 30% wanted updates on upcoming sales. 39% also want to show their support for a brand, but here’s a key stat: Only 17% are more likely to buy something after “liking” the brand, so it sure sounds like it’s a good tool to reach your existing customers but isn’t doing much — yet at least — to grow a customer base.
Interestingly the survey participants who join Facebook looking for shopping tips are most likely to be able to name brands who are marketing well whereas those who are more interested in social networking have a hard time even naming good examples.
The five best brands at engaging users on Facebook, according to the survey, are:
- Oreo (Nabisco)
- Walmart
- Victoria’s Secret
- iTunes
- Dove
Also, for marketers who want to get in front of Facebook fans, try the off hours. According to the research, “In total, 65% of Facebook users say they login only before or after work/school and 69% use Facebook on the weekends or days off.”
NFL Fines Chad Ochocinco $25,000 for Tweeting During Game
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco was fined $25,000 Tuesday for violating two NFL game policies — possession of an electronic device and posting messages on a social media site — during the Bengals preseason win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday.
Two messages appeared on Ochocinco’s Twitter page during the prohibited period for players to be using social media, which begins 90 minutes prior to kickoff and lasts until post-game media obligations are fulfilled.
One Ochocinco message appeared at 6:50 p.m. ET and the second at 9:53 p.m. ET. The game kicked off at 8:07 p.m. ET.
At 6:50, he tweeted: “Just talk with Kelly Washington, Desean Jackson, Geoff Pope, Hank Baskett and I caught a ball from Mike Vick, I love prw-game warm up.”
At 9:53, he tweeted: “Man Im sick of getting hit like that , its the damn preseason [expletive]! 1day I’m gone jump up and start throwing hay makers , #Tylenolplease”
