Swizz Beats Wife Mashonda discusses divorce on Lip Service and in Vibe Magazine
For the first time ever, the ex-wife of Swizz Beatz is revealing the whole truth and nothing but. In a candid two-part interview, R&B singer Mashonda, 29, opens up to VIBE Magazine’s Tracy Garraud about her turbulent union with the hip-hop superproducer, the affair that left her crushed, and why she’s more resilient than ever. The interview is BANANAS! Check out what Mashanda had to XPOSE:
Vibe: I know it was very important for you to sit down with Alicia if she was going to be around your son. Safe to assume that happened?
Mashonda: “When I wrote her that Twitter letter everybody wanted to say things like ‘Oh, what do you need to meet her for? It’s not her problem, it’s Swizz’s. I’m like, ‘You have a kid, go through what I went through and then talk to me.’ I’m not having my son around anybody I don’t know. I don’t give a [fig] who you are and how much money you have and what management he’s going to be under when he visits you. I need to see you and I need you to see how serious I am about him. And that’s what happened. We had to sit down, and I told her how I felt. I didn’t mention anything else, it was all about my son and it was fine after that. I’m not going sit and talk to [them] about what happened between the three of us. This is about my son.”
Vibe: How did you introduce [your son] Kasseem to Alicia?
Mashonda: “This is daddy’s friend Alicia… Daddy’s girlfriend.’ I don’t want him to ever go over there feeling uncomfortable.”
Vibe: When did this meeting finally take place?
Mashonda: “It took a good year and a half. I think that only happened in March.”
Vibe: How was Alicia’s demeanor?
Mashonda: “She just listened.”
Vibe: This all sounds like a really awkward gathering…
Mashonda: “It wasn’t awkward; I wouldn’t have done it if I wasn’t ready. I said what I had to say as a mom. It was a whole sit down dinner. So you know how intimate that is. There are certain things we have to do as women in order to move forward.”
Vibe: You mentioned there being infidelity prior to Alicia. What happened?
Mashonda: “His older son Nasir was born while we were together. We were living together [and] I was pregnant
at the time. I stressed so much because I found out [the other woman] was pregnant… it put me into pre-labor,” she explains.
“I lost my baby in 2000 when I was five-and-a-half months. It was tragedy. Nothing compares to losing a child. That [stuff] put me into a two-year depression, it took me six years to even try [having a baby] again. I was afraid. So not only did I lose my baby, but now I was waiting for this other woman to have hers. Because of what happened to me, he wanted me to name the baby. He wanted a Muslim name and I loved the name Nasir. The first time I met Nasir we fell in love and whenever we had visitation he was my baby. I took care of him. We did everything that I would do with [Kaseem]. And when Swizz did that interview with DJ Enuff, he mentioned that I made him choose between his marriage and his son, and I was like ‘What?!’That kills me the most. He was saying these things because these are probably the things he told her,” Mashonda reflected.
“Obviously something is wrong with his morals, but I don’t play with kids. Even now with Alicia’s pregnancy, I believe she deserves privacy. I hate hearing people wish bad stuff on her and the baby. I’m like ‘People shut up!’ This is a child, an actual life… someone who has nothing to do with what’s going on right now. I wish her the most successful, healthy pregnancy in the world, that child is going to be my son’s brother or sister and that’s the only way to look at it.”
Vibe: How did you even find out that [Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz] were engaged and she was pregnant?
Mashonda: “I knew these things for a couple of months… I never talked to him about it though. It’s his life, but people talk. Nobody is nobody’s friend when it comes to stuff like this. There are people in their circles that talk and it gets back to me and I’m like ‘Wow, okay.’ I still feel like we should tell each other…No, I don’t care. I don’t give him the vibe that I care, so he wouldn’t feel obligated to tell me.”

The bullet passed through him and struck his 64-year-old grandmother in the arm.
Both were transported to the hospital, but the boy later died. His grandmother was expected to make a full recovery.
Jerome Addison Sr., 26, was taken into police custody. Investigations are continuing.
Rev Jesse Jackson rips Cleveland Cav’s Owner Gilbert’s LeBron comments
Via Espn – Jesse Jackson criticized Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert on Sunday, saying Gilbert sees LeBron James as a “runaway slave” and that the owner’s comments after the free-agent forward decided to join the Miami Heat put the player in danger.
Shortly after James announced his decision last week, Gilbert fired off an incendiary letter to Cleveland’s fans, ripping the 25-year-old and promising to deliver a title before James wins one. He called James’ decision “cowardly” and later told The Associated Press he believes James quit during a handful of Cavaliers playoff games.
“He has gotten a free pass,” Gilbert told the AP in a phone interview late Thursday night. “People have covered up for [James] for way too long. Tonight we saw who he really is.”
Jackson said Gilbert’s comments were “mean, arrogant and presumptuous.”
“He speaks as an owner of LeBron and not the owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers,” the reverend said in a release from his Chicago-based civil rights group, the Rainbow PUSH Coalition. “His feelings of betrayal personify a slave master mentality. He sees LeBron as a runaway slave. This is an owner employee relationship — between business partners — and LeBron honored his contract.”
Messages were left Sunday night seeking comment from Gilbert, the Cavaliers and James.
Jackson also called Gilbert’s comments an attack on all NBA players and said the owner should face a “challenge” from the league and the players’ association.
NBA spokesman Tim Frank declined comment.
Jay-Z Says he is not a Free Mason and Down with the Illuminaiti – Jay and Rick Murder the Track
Via MTV – Jay-Z takes aim at all those who have questioned his spirituality on the new Rick Ross song – Free Mason. At the top of the year, while on New York radio, Jay dismissed rumors that he was a member of the illuminati, worshiped the devil and had Satanic images in the video for – On to the Next One.
“I got a lot of money,” Hov told Power 105.1 radio host Ed Lover on January 13. “When people get a lot of money, they start getting those rumors, like Tom Cruise, Willie Smith. That’s ridiculous.”
On “Free Mason,” which is a play off the rumors that Jay is a Freemason, Hov shoots back.
“N—as couldn’t do nothing with me, they put the devil on me,” Jay raps. “I would have preferred n—as squeeze the metal on me/ Rumors of Lucifer, I don’t know who to trust/ The whole world wants my demise, turn the music up.
“If y’all n—as fear me, just say y’all fear me,” he adds. “F— all these fairy tales/ Go to hell, this is God engineering/ … I said I was amazing/ Not that I’m a Mason …/ I’m on my third six, but a devil I’m not. …”
John Legend, who appeared on Ross’ last LP, Deeper Than Rap, via “Magnificent,” is also on the track. He harmonizes on the song and sings toward the end.
“Never let it be said I didn’t win,” he sings. “Never say Legend didn’t go in/ I just want to die on the top of the world/ Making love to my favorite girl.”
But Ricky Rozay bats leadoff on his record. He starts off saying he’ll die before being viewed as punk.
“All-white mansion, I’m the child of God/ All black diamonds, times were hard/ New Rolls-Royce, guess you made it n—a/ All-white neighborhood, you their favorite n—a/ My top back like JFK/ They wanna push my top back like JFK.”
“I was a roadie on the Blueprint 3 tour for a few dates,” Ross said in May of how the song came about. “It started off in St. Louis. I was just messing with everybody, kicking it with everybody, letting Jay hear my ideas and concepts. When you get the deluxe version of this album, we documented when I played the record. I played the track and my first verse,” Ross recalled. “I put in the PS3 behind the stage.
“Played it, [Jay] listened to it,” he continued. “We played it, backed it up, played it again. Played it, backed it up, played it again. Backed it up, and he spit his verse. It’s gonna be magic for people to see Jay do his ‘Rain [Man]‘ when he’s rubbing his head, like he pulling his rhymes outta his mind. Just to see somebody come up with a verse that potent in less than two or three minutes … ’cause it was just a snippet. The beat may have played for a minute and a half and started over,” a process Ross says was repeated a few times as Jay composed. “He had his 16, an idea for the chorus. Trey Songz, all of us standing around in awe.”
Ross’ Teflon Don arrives on July 20.

Cleveland Cavs Owner Dan Gilbert Calls Lebron A Coward – We Agree!
Dear Cleveland, All Of Northeast Ohio and Cleveland Cavaliers Supporters Wherever You May Be Tonight;
As you now know, our former hero, who grew up in the very region that he deserted this evening, is no longer a Cleveland Cavalier.
This was announced with a several day, narcissistic, self-promotional build-up culminating with a national TV special of his “decision” unlike anything ever “witnessed” in the history of sports and probably the history of entertainment.
Clearly, this is bitterly disappointing to all of us.
The good news is that the ownership team and the rest of the hard-working, loyal, and driven staff over here at your hometown Cavaliers have not betrayed you nor NEVER will betray you.
There is so much more to tell you about the events of the recent past and our more than exciting future. Over the next several days and weeks, we will be communicating much of that to you.
You simply don’t deserve this kind of cowardly betrayal.
You have given so much and deserve so much more.
In the meantime, I want to make one statement to you tonight:
“I PERSONALLY GUARANTEE THAT THE CLEVELAND CAVALIERS WILL WIN AN NBA CHAMPIONSHIP BEFORE THE SELF-TITLED FORMER ‘KING’ WINS ONE”
You can take it to the bank.
If you thought we were motivated before tonight to bring the hardware to Cleveland, I can tell you that this shameful display of selfishness and betrayal by one of our very own has shifted our “motivation” to previously unknown and previously never experienced levels.
Some people think they should go to heaven but NOT have to die to get there.
Sorry, but that’s simply not how it works.
This shocking act of disloyalty from our home grown “chosen one” sends the exact opposite lesson of what we would want our children to learn. And “who” we would want them to grow-up to become.
But the good news is that this heartless and callous action can only serve as the antidote to the so-called “curse” on Cleveland, Ohio.
The self-declared former “King” will be taking the “curse” with him down south. And until he does “right” by Cleveland and Ohio, James (and the town where he plays) will unfortunately own this dreaded spell and bad karma.
Just watch.
Sleep well, Cleveland.
Tomorrow is a new and much brighter day….
I PROMISE you that our energy, focus, capital, knowledge and experience will be directed at one thing and one thing only:
DELIVERING YOU the championship you have long deserved and is long overdue….
Dan Gilbert
Majority Owner
Cleveland Cavaliers
